PNP, NHA, BOC triumph on UNTV Cup’s triple header last Sunday

LAGUNA, Philippines — Residents of Biñan witnessed an action-packed UNTV Cup Season 5 triple-header held at Alonte sports arena on Sunday. In game one, the PNP Responders gunned down the MMDA Black Wolves’ offense, dominating the game from start to finish. Ollan “The Sniper” Omiping led the Responders towards the 13-point win, 86-47. For this, the Black Wolves drops down to the bottom spot, with 4 games won and 5 games lost. The PNP Responders, on the other hand, now has a 7-2 win – loss record.

In the second game, the NHA Builders bulldozed the AFP Cavaliers with final scores 86 – 73. After the long holiday, NHA’s preparation paid off.

NHA Builders Head Coach Silverio “Benneth” Palad III said, “Pinaghandaan namin lahat ng team, lalo na yung dalawang susunod kasi kailangan naming dumiretso para makapasok sa apat.” (The whole team prepared for this, most especially the two incoming games because we need to be at the top 4 in the standings to assure advancement to the next round of the tournament.)  

The Builders was led by Marvin Mercado who made 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Ariel Vitug who buried 25 points and dominated 8 boards.  

And in the main game, the BOC Transformers remain on the top spot of the team standings after knocking down the Malacañang Kamao in a neck-and neck battle which ended with 71-70 on the scoreboard. The rookie team was geared by PBA Legend Kenneth “Captain Marbel” Duremdes and Gherome Ejercito. Ejercito was able to bury a crucial shot which paved the way to the transformers’ 8th win this season.
