Alaska, San Miguel dominate UNTV Cup PBA Legends Face-off opening

Alaska and San Miguel dominated the opening games of the UNTV Cup PBA
Legends Face-off on Sunday (June 2) at the Pasig City Sports Center.
San Miguel was off to a good start after showing a strong offense against Purefoods. They took the first game, 88-68.
Allan Caidic, Nic Belasco, and Olcen Racela secured San Miguel’s 16-point lead (26-10) during the first quarter with their three-point shots. San Miguel maintained their advantage up to the last quarter, ending the game with 88-68.
Chris Calaguio led the team with 16 points, Danny Ildefonso recorded a
double double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, Caidic scored 13 points
while Belasco scored 10 points.
Caidic, also known as ‘The
Triggerman’ is still unsure if they can secure another win due to other
strong opponents. However, Caidic believes their win is a good moral
boost for the team.
“Sana magtuloy-tuloy na ito, this is a good
start for us and I know malalakas pa iyong mga kalaban so hindi pa rin
kami nakakasiguro. A win is a win, magandang moral boosting sa amin ito
pero this is nothing kung matatalo kami sa next two, kaya importatnte
iyong next game, (I hope this continues, this is a good start for
us. I know there other strong opponents so we cannot be sure [of the
outcome]. A win is a win, this is a good moral boost for us but this
will be for nothing if we lose the next two.The next game is important)” he said.
Kiko Adriano was hailed as the best player of the game after scoring 15 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal.
“Sa totoo lang nakaka-miss, the last time I’ve played 2008. So 11 years, pasalamat pa rin sa Panginoon nakakalaro pa rin, (To be honest, I missed this, the last time I played was in 2008. So that’s 11 years, I thank the Lord I can still play)” he said.
Purefoods’s Jerry ‘The Defense Minister’ Codinera, their team went off
to a bad start and admitted San Miguel to be the better team.
Meanwhile, from Alaska versus Ginebra faceoff, Willie ‘The Thriller’ Miller made it rain with five three-points shots and a total of 29 points. Alaska snatched the win from crowd-favorite Ginebra, 90-83.
Johnny ‘The Flying A’ Abarrientos, who scored 16 points with 7
assists and 5 rebounds, is grateful for the continued support of their

Eddie Laure’s 12 points, Bong Hawkins’s
10 points and 10 rebounds, and Poch Aquino’s 10 points also helped in
securing Alaska’s win.
Ginebra’s Marlou Aquino, meanwhile, scored
24 points while Vince Hizon and Jay Jay Helterbrand scored 23 points and
6 points respectively.
Bal ‘The Flash’ David admits Alaska was more prepared than their team.
