Twice routed offseason defending champion AFP Cavaliers is squaring its shoulders as it considers its next hard court battle a must-win situation.

Cavaliers will go against the Senate Sentinels in the main game of the tripleheader UNTV Cup Executive Faceoff on Sunday, 5:30 p.m. at the Pasig City Sports Center.

Cavaliers Coach Sonny Manucat knows they would need to thoroughly rev up their armaments to defeat the leading Sentinels.

“Senate is a strong opponent so we really prepared hard for them. It’s really team effort or we won’t win,” Coach Manucat said.

Cavaliers need to clinch their first win to secure position since each team only has seven eliminations round matches.

Only the top four will advance to the playoffs and the remaining two will have to bid farewell to the league.

“[We] must win. We need to win if we want to advance to the round of four. We will take it one game at a time, we’ll try to win the next game,” AFP Cavaliers coach added.

Senate cagers, meanwhile, are conscientious since they will clash against the defending champion.

Senate Sentinels Coach Mike Fermin said, “That’s a very strong team. We need to prepare and fix our defenses. We still have lapses but we only need to be consistent with our play executions. That will be the key to our game against AFP.”

Prior to Cavaliers-Sentinels game, GSIS Thunder Furies will gun for their first win at two in the afternoon, followed by PNP Responders and Judiciary Magis which are both seeking their third straight win. — Bernard Dadis | UNTV News & Rescue
