Another action-filled battle on the hard court is in the offing as the PNP Responders face off with the Ombudsman Graft Busters this Sunday.

Both teams displayed quick offenses in their respective first games of the UNTV Cup Off Season Executive Faceoff on May 6th with PNP Responders edging out reigning champion AFP Cavaliers to tally their first win, 90-62.

While Ombudsman Graft Busters showed off their heavy firepower when it clipped Malacañang-PSC Kamao last week by scoring 76-57.

And on the heels of their first off season triumph, the Graft Busters vowed to step up offense plays to match the high endurance levels of police generals and colonels, headed by PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde himself.

Graft Busters head coach Ricky Alcatara said, “Well, I just tell the guys na to continue to improve especially yung stamina namin kasi nga next game namin, PNP eh. Sa nakita ko yun ang pinakamalakas talaga, eh. So every game maasahan nyo kami if there opportunity takbo lang kami ng takbo.”

(Well, I just tell the guys  to continue to improve especially our stamina namin because our next game is against PNP. From what I’ve seen, they’re the strongest. You can count on us in every game. If there’s opportunity, we just keep running.)

While PNP Responders’ main man PDG Oscar Albayalde said, “Kami ay nag-practice, pinaghandaan namin ito (We have been practicing and preparing for this game). Hopefully, manalo kami (we’ll win) this year. But then again of course winning the game is only second to the love of game itself. Ang importante dito ay makapaglaro tayo ng mabuti (The important thing is to be able to play well) and everyone will enjoy the game.”

The PNP and Ombudsman cagers will fire up the second game this Sunday, 3:30 in the afternoon at the Pasig City Sports Center. — Bernard Dadis | UNTV News and Rescue
