MANILA, Philippines — A heart-stopping hard court action marked the opening of the second UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off  off-season games.

At yesterday’s game, Cabinet members of President Rodrigo Duterte (Malacañang Kamao) and the Senate team (Senate Sentinels) proved they can still keep up with the league of public servants on the hard court.

It was a close fight in the first quarter with 21-20 in favor of Kamao. Malacanang’s lead climbed seven points in the second quarter, 40-33.

In the third quarter, however, the Defenders struck back and were able to snatch the lead, 58-55.

The tandem of Senators Joel Villanueva and Sonny Angara led their pack with combined 33 points that lifted the Senate team’s advantage, 78-74.

Malacañang on the other hand was led by Liutenant Commander Paul Yamamoto with 22 points and Assistant to the President Christopher Bong Go with 15 points.

Anti-Corruption Commissioner Greco Belgica also contributed 15 points while PAGCOR Vice President Jimmy Bondoc chipped in 5 points

Meanwhile, PNP Responders victory was a sweet revenge against defending champion and long-time rival, AFP Cavaliers, whom they crushed with 90-62.

The Responders assaulted the Cavaliers with intense offensives that allowed them to dominate all quarters from start to finish.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Director General Oscar Albayalde himself headed the PNP Responders.

On the other hand, AFP Cavaliers head coach, CPL. Cornelio “Sonny” Manucat III, “I have to give credit to the PNP , tingin ko mas prepared sila…siguro bawi nalang kami next time.”
