QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Filipino artists took the center stage at the Big Dome on Tuesday (January 15) for the fourth Wish Music Awards hosted by Wish 107.5.

Wish Music Awards aims at recognizing exceptional talents of Filipino artists and their notable contributions to the Philippine music industry.

Hailed big winners were Morissette Amon and the rising funk rock trio IV of Spades.

Morisette bagged six major awards including the Wish Artist of the Year; Wishclusive Ballad Performance of the Year and the Wish Pop Song of the Year.

“I’m so really grateful to wish for giving us the platform to share our music to so many people around the world. Thank you so much and congratulations kasi siyempre this is all for a good cause. We’re all helping out our beneficiaries, our foundations and I think that was really special about the Wish Music Awards,” the Asia’s Phoenix said.

Meanwhile, IV of Spades received four major awards namely Wish Group of the Year; Wishclusive Rock/Alternative Performance of the Year and Viral Video of the Year.

The group is also the recipient of the very first Diamond Wishclusive Elite Circle Award for their Wishclusive performance of their hit song ‘Mundo’ which garnered over 103 million votes and counting on YouTube.

“Ma-recognize at this na parang nandito kami sa state na ito na nagsisimula pa lang kami na gumawa pa ng music so parang ngayon mas nakaka-inspire na gumawa pa ng mas maraming music,” the group said.

A total of 26 other artists were included in the bronze, silver, gold and platinum Elite Circle Awards. This particular category recognizes the artists who get at least 10 million views for their respective Youtube video.

The TNT Boys and the Wishfuls were also recipient of a special award called the ‘Breaking Boundaries’ Award for their achievement as rising artists.

Meanwhile, Wish Music Awards is not only a celebration of original Pilipino music (OPM) but a way to reach out to those in need.

Each winning artist received P25,000 for each award while their chosen beneficiaries received P100,000.

Morisette took home P150,000 for six awards and her chosen beneficiary Meritxell Children’s World Foundation Incorporated received a total of P600,000.

“There’s really no other award-giving body like it. Sobrang nakaka-happy kasi we are recognized as artists and the hard work we do, at the same time, we get to help out. Dito ko lang po narinig iyon.  And I’m very happy to be part of the Wish family po talaga,” Morisette said.

Meanwhile, IV of Spades took home P100,000 for their group and P400,000 for their chosen beneficiary — the Philippine Assistance for Hydrocephalus Victims — for bagging four awards.

“I think this is the very first award-giving body na nagbibigay ng cash along with the award so it’s a very good idea that hindi lang kami ‘yung nakakatanggap ng blessings pero kasama din ‘yung mga beneficiaries,” the group said.

Other charitable institutions who received cash donations from winning artists include Virlaine Foundation Incorporated; A Home for the Angels Crisis Home for Abandoned Babies Foundation, Incorporated; Kythe Foundation Incorporated; Children’s Rehabilitation Center; Bethany House- Sto. Niño Orphanage Incorporated; Willing Hearts Orphanage Incorporated; Children’s Mission Philippines; and Hills of Grace Foundation Incorporated.

“Very thankful kasi aside from the trophy na hinding-hindi mababayaran ng salapi, we get to help people who need like for example, may P100,000, sobrang laki na noon. Ang daming bata na mapapakain noon. Madaming bata na ang mabibigyan ng school supplies, hindi ba? So sobrang thankful na hindi lang ito. Kumbaga, mas importante nga iyon. Parang mas mabigat sa puso ko ang award na iyon, iyong makatulong ka sa kapuwa mo just by singing,” said KZ Tandingan who was among the recipients of the Gold and Bronze Elite Circle Award for her two Wishclusive performances.

First time guest and British YouTube reactor Dan Evans was truly amazed by the concept.

“I think it’s an amazing idea. I don’t think there’s enough events like this where people give so generously to charity, something which is an amazing job,” Evans said.

Wish FM’s innovator, Daniel Razon

Wish FM’s innovator Kuya Daniel Razon hopes that the cash donations will somehow help and make a positive difference in the advocacies of the chosen beneficiaries.

Since year one, Wish Music Awards has already given away a total of P7.125 million to the winning artists and their respective charities. – Marje Pelayo (with reports from Mon Jocson / Asher Cadapan Jr.)

Wish 107.5 makes various innovations in music industry

by UNTV News   |   Posted on Friday, January 12th, 2018

MANILA, Philippines – It has just been 3 years since Wish 107.5 started its operations yet it has become a favorite of many music fans

Because of its innovations and one-of-a-kind concepts, it has received numerous awards and gained attention here and abroad.

Among these is the very popular Wish bus which was introduced during the station launch.

The Wish Bus, the first and only FM booth on wheels, is the brainchild of veteran broadcaster and humanitarian, Kuya Daniel Razon.

It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities used to produce your favorite Wishclusive videos. Because of its uniqueness, this roving music hub has never failed to catch the attention of commuters.

“Wish 107.5 Bus was actually conceptualized because we have noticed that here in the metropolis, traffic is really terrible. So one of the things that we would like to introduce is something that would assuage the feeling of boredom and also the feeling of going crazy in the traffic jam,” Razon said.

The bus regularly visits different parts of the country to provide free mini-concerts of promising Filipino and international artists —and soon we’ll be able to see it roaming abroad.

“Gusto namin nga po talaga, mas marami yung Wish bus namin. So naumpisahan na natin na naicustomize na natin yung sa Hollywood. So what we wanted to do is ma-i-showcase po ang ating Filipino artists all over the globe,” Razon added.

(We really wanted to replicate our Wish bus so we have started to customize one in Hollywood. So what we wanted to do is to showcase our Filipino artists all over the globe.)

Among the popular programs of the station is Wishcovery which showcases the talent of aspiring singers in the country.

It is the biggest online singing competition in the country today.

Apart from these innovations, Wish 107.5 is considered unique for being an FM station with a heart.

“What we wanted to do is to help yung mga nandoon sa (those in the) music industry. And by opening up our station, we wanted to incorporate kasi (because of) the element of helping other people. The reason why we named it Wish is because we wanted to grant wishes,” Razon said.

Every small wish fulfilled brings smiles to the beneficiary.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa wish kasi tinupad po nila iyong wish ko (I thank Wish for granting my wish),” wisher from Bulacan Sheila Laudera said.

“Masarap sa pakiramdam kasi merong isang radio station na nag-grant ng wish. I hope sana marami din kayong ma-grant na Wish (It feels good that there is a radio station that grants wishes. I hope you grant more wishes),” Quezon City Wisher Regine Ann Abaigar said.

Also among the one-of-a-kind concepts of Wish FM is the Wish Music Awards which aside from being a night of honoring promising artists is a charitable event. – Leslie Longboen | UNTV News & Rescue
