Colorful lights shined on people’s faces. Some held their phones trying to capture the moment, while others were singing along with Moira dela Torre.
Everyone was in the zone enjoying the “Braver Moira” concert in Davao City last Friday—except for one person.
Fritz Lester Asis could not stop fidgeting in his seat. He has been feeling nervous for days. Fritz told his girlfriend he was just going to the restroom but in truth, he was preparing to propose to her.
Moira and her husband Jason Hernandez began singing “Ikaw at Ako”.
“Handa ako sa walang hanggan…. (I’m ready for forever),” the song’s words floated through the crowd.
Fritz couldn’t help but get emotional. “Ito kasing proposal na ito matagal ko na itong pinag-isipan, (I have been thinking about this proposal for a long time),” Fritz said.
According to Fritz, there had been tons of opportunities for him to propose but fear held him back.
“Marami na kaming mga special moments like during trips with her family. Iyong last time sa Baguio, sa Bataan parang wala talaga akong confidence that time na gawin, (There had been a lot of special moments, like during trips with her family. Last time was in Baguio, then Bataan. I had no confidence that time),” he added.
Mariz Laraño, meanwhile, thought Moira called her onstage for winning in a raffle draw.
Waiting expectantly on stage, Mariz saw Fritz come up as well, and that’s when she knew — “This is it,” she said.
“Nasa kaniya na lahat nang hinahanap ko: very caring, loving, genuine love talaga ang binibigay kaya, — [it’s a] “yes” of course, (He has all the traits I’ve been looking for: very caring, loving. He gives genuine love. So, it’s a “yes” of course,” Mariz said. —AAC (with reports from Janice Ingente)
