SC releases list of 2018 Bar Exam passers

The Supreme Court (SC) already posted online the full list of bar passers on their website on Friday (May 3).

Sources confirmed that the passing rate for Bar Examinations 2018 is 22.07%, or 1,800 of the 8,155 examinees.

This is slightly lower compared to the 25.55% who passed the Bar exams in 2017. In 2016, the passing rate was 59.06%.

The number of candidates who took the exam is the highest compared to the previous years. There are a total of 8,155 candidates took the Bar exams last November 2018.

Next Bar exams will be held in November 2021, Supreme Court says

MANILA, Philippines – The next Bar examinations will be scheduled in November 2021, the Supreme Court announced Tuesday.

In a bulletin posted on its Twitter account, Bar Examinations chairperson, Associate Justice Marvic Leonen said the examination periods and venues for the next licensure test for aspiring lawyers will be announced in a separate bulletin.

It can be recalled that the high court postponed this year’s Bar exams “due to increasing number of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the prevailing quarantine protocols all over nation, and the continuing uncertainty.”

Before the coronavirus pandemic, the SC traditionally holds the Bar examinations in November of every year and announces the results either in April or May the following year.

Duterte signs law on energy efficiency, conservation

President Rodrigo Duterte has signed Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act. The law seeks to institutionalize and implement energy efficiency.

The Republic Act 11285 was signed by Duterte on April 12 and was released to the media on Tuesday (May 7). It aims to lessen the impact of high imported fuel prices and protect the environment “in support of the economic and social development goals of the country”.

The Department of Energy (DOE) will be the implementing agency responsible for planning, implementation, and enforcement of energy.

The energy department will make the implementing rules and regulations within six months after the law takes effect.

MANILA, Philippines – The results of the 2018 Bar examination will be released on May 3, the Supreme Court (SC) Public Information Office announced on Wednesday (May 1).

In an advisory, the SC PIO said the magistrates will hold a special En Banc session to deliberate on the exam results.

“The results of the 2018 Bar Examinations will be released on May 3, 2019, Friday, after approval by the Supreme Court En Banc in a special session,” the SC’s Information Office said.

SC Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo, chairperson of the 2018 Bar Exams Committee, will announce the results at the SC front yard in Padre Faura Street in Manila.

“The list of successful examinees will then be posted and may be viewed at the SC website, the official website of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, and its designated mirror sites,” the SC PIO added.

The list of successful Bar examinees will also be shown in an LED wall.

The 2018 Bar exams were held at the University of Santo Tomas last November.

A total of 8,155 law graduates took the 2018 Bar exams, the highest so far in the history of the Bar exams.
