Sanctions vs RMW security provider likely to be issued after three months – PNP

MANILA, Philippines — The security provider of Resorts World Manila will undergo a summary hearing after the Philippine National Police-Supervisory Office on Security and Investigation Agencies (PNP-SOSIA) found probable cause to impose penalties.

PSSupt. Ildebrandi Usana said it might take three months before they could arrive at a decision on what penalties to impose on NC Lanting Security Specialist Inc.

The police official said this is because the security provider will still be given opportunity to submit its answer or motion on the penalties to be imposed on them.

The security provider might face three kinds of penalties like fine of not lower than P50 thousand, suspension, and cancellation of its license to operate.

“Within 90 days since we disposed the case, the public will know the results of the summary hearing procedure… because on the MR, the party will request, in this case the NC Lanting, if some parts of the findings could be reconsidered because this is what happened. So from there, the summary hearing office may look for justification in the mr that the respondent can point out,” Usana said.

PNP-SOSIA has initially ordered all 70 security personnel of NC Lanting to be relieved from their posts.

Among them are the security guards positioned at the entrance and exit of Maxims Hotel and Newport Mall of the Resorts World Complex.

“NC Lanting, don’t deploy guards on the said areas in Resorts World, and that actually is a part of preventive aspect on the case while the case is being investigated,” Usana added. – Grace Casin | UNTV News and Rescue

Mall security guards in themed costumes

The Philippine National Police – Supervisory Office for Security & Investigation Agency (PNP-SOSIA) has issued a warning against mall-owners and managers who will require their security guards to wear themed uniforms during the “ber”-months.

PNP-SOSIA Assistant Chief Police Colonel Sydney Villaflor said security guards will not be able to perform their jobs well if they are wearing costumes.

The official added that this will put the security in establishments at risk.

“Yung pagsusuot ng iba’t ibang uniform ay posibleng samantalahin ng mga sindikato, ng iba’t ibang grupo na posibleng gumawa ng mga krimen sa loob ng mall at iba pang business establishments [Syndicates and other bad elements who would want to commit crimes inside the malls and other business establishments might take advantage of the varying uniforms of security guards],” Villaflor said.

The official also warned that security officers caught wearing themed costumes will be fined with P10,000 for the first offense. Their security agency will also be meted out with P10,000 fine.

The security agency will also be at risk of having their permit to operate canceled in case of repeated violations. (with details from Lea Ylagan) /mbmf

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – About 1,000 assorted firearms were seized by the Philippine National Police Supervisory Office for Security and Investigative Agencies (PNP-SOSIA) from a total of 96 security agencies ordered closed across Metro Manila.

According to SOSIA director PCSupt. Noli Romana, some of the concerned agencies violated certain regulations while others were not able to renew their contracts.

“Within 60 days dapat naka-renew na sila ng kanilang expiring license to operate. Most of these security agencies ay hindi na sila nakapag renew for one year mahigit na,” Romana said.

The agencies also did not turn over their respective firearms that’s why the PNP needed to confiscate them.

“Our memo to them is to turn over dapat sa atin through the FEO storage. And since hindi nila ginagawa, we are forced now to implement our memorandum,” the official added.

Romana explained that the said agencies will go through administrative investigation to find out why they were unable to renew their respective permits which are now permanently revoked.

“We will just ban them from and terminate their licenses na hindi na sila makakapag-operate ng kanilang security business,” Romana noted.

Romana said there are still over 350 private security agencies that are facing closure in Metro Manila. – Marje Pelayo (with reports from Lea Ylagan)

MANILA, Philippines — The management of the Philippine National Police- Supervisory Office on Security and Investigation Agency (PNP-SOSIA) issued a memo last November 5 prohibiting its personnel from soliciting donations this holiday season.

This was after the agency’s chief received complaints about individuals who were posing as SOSIA personnel and asking stakeholders to donate for their holiday parties.  Stakeholders of SOSIA include security agencies and training centers.

SOSIA Enforcement Management Division Chief PSupt. Jaime Santos warned of conducting entrapment operations against poseurs who are soliciting cash and goods purportedly for the SOSIA party raffle.

“Pag naaktuhan na nagso-solicit or may sumbong sa local police ay aarestuhin po yan. Magkakaroon po ng entrapment at kakasuhan po sila ng, una, illegal use of uniform kung naka uniform sila ng pulis at kunwari nilang ipinatutupad ang kanilang tungkulin bilang pekeng pulis ay gagawan sila ng kasong usurpation of authority, “Santos said.

He added that SOSIA Chief PCSupt. Reczon Acabado has never ordered the agency’s personnel to solicit anything for their parties.

“Yung aming chief sa SOSIA ay masyadong mahigpit pagdating sa ganyan. Ayaw niya ng ganyan. Kapag napatunayan na ang aming kasamahan ay involved sa panghihingi ng pera ay pinaiimbestigahan niya kaagad yan at gusto niya kaagad ipasuspendi at ipa dismiss,” Santos said.

He also reminded his fellow policemen not to use their position to solicit gifts this holiday season.

“Huwag po nating abusuhin yung ating serbisyo at yung kautusan ay ating sundin na hindi tayo dapat mag solicit otherwise napaka higpit po ng pamunuan. Yung pinaghirapan mo na serbisyo mo pag nahuli ka at napatunayan ay sandali lang na maaalis ka sa serbisyo,” Santos said.

He added that SOSIA personnel always wear an ID and carry a letter order from SOSIA stating the purpose of their visit every time they go to a security agency, mall, bank, hotel and other establishments to conduct inspections. — Lea Ylagan | UNTV News & Rescue
