Honolulu, Hawaii — A formal complaint has been filed at a US District Court in Hawaii against Felina Sabino Salinas, the business executive and follower of the religious leader, Apolo Quiboloy who was with him aboard a private jet at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport last week.
The complaint accuses Salinas of bulk cash smuggling, a crime punishable by up to five years in prison and forfeiture of the cash and related property.
According to the copy of the complaint released by the US District Court, the US Department of Homeland Security said that Salinas handed Customs and Border Protection officers inspecting the aircraft on Tuesday a currency report form on which she declared she was carrying $40,000 in US currency and P1,000.
Federal law requires travelers to declare currency over $10,000 US.
When the officers opened a black carry-on bag, which Salinas admitted as hers, they found stacks of $100 bills in bundles of black socks.
Homeland security investigations said that when the officers opened Salinas’ carry-on bag, they discovered a total of $335,000 contained in socks plus 9,000 Australian dollar bills.
She appeared in court on Wednesday, saying her attorney is flying to Hawaii.
US Magistrate Judge Richard Puglisi ordered Salinas released on $25,000 bond, pending further prosecution.
The court has set the preliminary hearing on Salinas’ case on February 27 at 10 in the morning, Hawaii time. — UNTV News & Rescue
