(Mirasol Abogadil / Ruth Navales, UNTV News)

The Sandiganbayan has allowed senatorial candidate Jinggoy Estrada and businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles to file for the dismissal of the plunder charge against them.

The 5th division of the Sandiganbayan has given both parties 10 days to file their demurrer of evidence. The prosecution will also be given 10 days to respond.

The resolution states: “After a meticulous examination of the totality of evidence presented by the prosecution, both testimonial and documentary, the Court resolves to grant the present motion of the accused, to sufficiently provide him an opportunity to challenge the sufficiency of the prosecution’s evidence establishing material elements o the offense charged to support a judgment of guilt.”

Estrada and Napoles are facing plunder and graft charges following their involvement in the ‘pork barrel scam’. Estrada is accused of amassing P180 million kickback from the Priority Development Assistance Fund of bogus non-government organizations which is reportedly linked to Napoles.

Former Iloilo lawmaker to face charges over P14.7M PDAF scam

admin   •   January 26, 2018

MANILA, Philippines — Former Iloilo Representative Rolex Suplico will be facing charges before the Sandiganbayan for the anomalous use of his 2007 Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

In a resolution, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales found probable cause to charge Suplico with violation of Republic Act no. 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Also charged as co-accused are Antonio Ortiz, director general of the Technology and Livelihood Resource Center (TLRC) and Alfredo Ronquillo, president of Aaron Foundation Philippines Inc.

Records show that before the 2007 elections, Suplico received close to 15 million pesos as part of his PDAF.

The amount was transferred to the TLRC and later released to Aaron Foundation, as implementing agencies for the livelihood and development projects in the 5th district of Iloilo.

In a report prepared by the Commission on Audit, the PDAF amount remains unliquidated. — UNTV News & Rescue

Pres. Duterte denies involvement in Janet Napoles’ allegations vs. Sen. Franklin Drilon

UNTV News   •   January 25, 2018

MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte has dared Senator Franklin Drilon to expose a person who can prove allegations that he implicated the senator in the pork barrel scam.

This was after PDAF scam queen Janet Lim Napoles revealed that the senator received a P5-million donation from her for the lawmaker’s campaign funds in the 2010 elections.

The President added he is willing to resign if this will be proven.

“Senator Drilon, if I talked to somebody urging a case against you sa (on) PDAF, bring that person in my presence and I will resign because you are my friend,” Duterte said.

The Liberal Party claims the Duterte Administration is trying to divert the attention of the public away from issues such as inflation and the alleged favor given to China by the government regarding the West Philippine Sea and Philippine Rise — same reasons they said why the government wants Drilon to be investigated on PDAF scam.

“If you look at the timing after the minority submitted a resolution to investigate the Navy frigate issue, suddenly there is a convict to speak against the opposition,” Sen. Bam Aquino said.

Meanwhile, the President once again warned those who are using the hangar at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport but are not paying due charges.

“To the rich, you better be prepared. Even a clerk of the airport would say that it’s about time that we use that goddam space there. I will bulldoze all of you, I don’t care,” said Duterte.
