President Duterte to attend Friday’s virtual APEC Leaders’ Meeting

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to participate in the virtual Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leader’s Meeting on Friday (November 19).

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said the President will join two sessions during the summit, which is being hosted by Malaysia.

Leaders are expected to discuss ways to address the health and economic impact of the coronavirus disease pandemic and the new vision for APEC as a forum beyond 2020.

“Magsisimula ito sa gabi. Maikli lang naman po yung mga session – session 1, session 2 tapos final session. So, ang schedule po mga alas-7 o alas-8 then magtatapos po sila ng alas-10 at syempre po this is online [It will start in the evening. The sessions will not take long: session 1, session 2 then the final session. So the schedule will start at 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM then will end at about 10:00 PM, of course this is online],” the Palace spokesman noted. MNP (with reports from Rosalie Coz)
