MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Agriculture (DA) is closely monitoring market prices of farm produce and livestock particularly pork across Metro Manila.

As of Monday (August 26), pork prices remain reasonable in local markets.

In Guadalupe market, pork prices slightly increased from P200-P220 to up to P240/kg.

In Las Piñas market, pork ham or kasim sells at P200/kg while pork liempo sells at P245/kg.

In Mega Q-Mart, pork ham sells at P220/kg but pork liempo is much higher at P250/kg.

In a statement, Sec. William Dar’s spokesperson Noel Reyes on Sunday (August 25) assured that pork products in local markets remain safe for consumption because the supply is coming from areas not infested by pig disease. – MNP (with details from Vincent Arboleda)
