PH logs 6,686 new COVID-19 cases; 3,190 new recoveries

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines on Friday recorded 6,686 new cases of COVID-19, pushing the total tally to 1,300,349.

In its latest bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said the number of active cases in the country is at 61,345

Of these cases, 91.6 percent are mild, 4.3 percent are asymptomatic, 1.15 percent are moderate, 1.7 percent are severe, and 1.2 percent are in critical condition.

The DOH also reported  3,190 more patients who have recovered from the coronavirus disease, bringing the tally of recoveries to 1,216,497.

Meanwhile, the country’s  COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 22,507 with 196 new fatalities.

The DOH also reported a positivity rate of 13.3 percent out of 49,371 tests conducted last June 9.

Government data showed that 58 percent of the country’s ICU beds are occupied while patients are utilizing 35 percent of the ventilators.

In the National Capital Region, 50 percent of ICU beds are in use while 32 percent of ventilators are also being utilized.
