Philippine Dragon Boat Team gears up for the much-awaited rematch against Russia.
The Filipino paddlers lost at the same competition in Moscow last year.
The group’s president, Jonne Go, said the match between Russia and the Philippines will take place on Boracay Island in the middle of this year.
The Filipino athletes claimed three golds at the International Canoe Kayak Dragon Boat World Championships in Moscow four months ago.
For this, the team aims at claiming more wins in the next competition.
They will use this competition as training ahead of the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
The paddlers will not join the SEA Games in August because the sport was removed from the competition.
Aside from this, Pinoy grandmaster Eugene Torre and Russian grandmaster Anatoly Karpov will play in a rematch.
