PAL announces plans to partially resume flights in May

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Airlines announced on Tuesday (April 7) its plans of partial resumption of selected international and domestic flights in the coming weeks.

The country’s flag carrier clarified, however, that the plans may change depending on how the situation develops in relation to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak which includes the duration of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), travel bans and restrictions imposed by other countries and the overall public health and safety situation in each of the cities and countries that PAL operates in.

PAL also said it will not operate international flights from April 15 to 30 although it is considering making ad hoc special flights for stranded passengers and essential cargoes across the country and within the Asia-Pacific region.

Meanwhile, PAL said it is setting plans to resume a number of weekly flights for the month of May to several destinations including Japan, the USA, Canada, Guam, Australia, the U.K., Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Taipei, Macau, Saudi Arabia, and Korea.

Once the details are finalized, the company assured to publish a list of flights in an updated advisory.

On the other hand, PAL maintained that all flights to the following destinations remain canceled for the month of May: Auckland, New York JFK, Dubai, Doha, Perth, Melbourne, Port Moresby, and Sapporo.

As for domestic flights, operations from April 15 to May 31 will depend on the changes with community quarantine restrictions imposed against domestic air travel, PAL said.

We will await the final government decisions, and will announce the list of domestic flights to be operated once finalized,” the airline company said.

“However, in any case, we shall not be operating any flights to and from Clark International Airport for the month of April,” it added.

MANILA, Philippines — The Point-to-Point (P2P) bus service from Metro Manila to Clark International Airport has been continuously ferrying passengers since its operations resumed on February 5.

P2P shuttle buses operate from Clark Airport to Trinoma area and vice versa via Mindanao Avenue and the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx). It stops over at SM City Clark.

The operation from Clark Airport to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is likewise operational.

DFA suspends operations of Consular Office in Tuguegarao City

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday (January 20) announced the temporary closure of its Consular Office in Tuguegarao (CO Tuguegarao) while the city is under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

DFA CO Tuguegarao will be closed from January 20 to 29 pursuant to Executive Order 14 s. 2021.

CO Tuguegarao will resume its regular operations on Monday, February 1.

Affected applicants with confirmed appointments who are unable to avail of consular services due to the suspension of operations must secure another appointment by emailing with the following information:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Original appointment date and time
  • Preferred date and time of new appointment

The preferred new appointment may be on any working day (Monday to Friday) from February 1, 2021 to March 1, 2021 during the CO’s regular operation hours from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.

Tuguegarao City reverts to ECQ after surge in COVID-19 cases

MANILA, Philippines — The city of Tuguegarao has been placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) again starting January 20 until January 29.

The latest restriction came after 81 new active cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection were reported in only one day.

The new tally raised alarm among local government officials due to the continuous spike in COVID-19 cases in the city following the holiday season.

In an interview, Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the number of cases was manageable for the first few days of January. The number surged, however, starting January 16 thus the change in their decision.

Governor Manuel Mamba of Cagayan, meanwhile, joined Soriano in endorsing to the regional Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) the imposition of ECQ for Tuguegarao City.
