MANILA, Philippines – The management of the Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) reminded the public about the suspension of its operations starting Saturday, Oct. 31 until Monday, Nov. 2.

In an advisory on Thursday, the MRT-3 said the temporary shutdown will be implemented to give way to bushing replacement works at the depot and the turnout activity at the Taft Avenue Station by its maintenance provider, Sumitomo-MHI-TESP.

The rail line management further said that the turnout repair works at Taft Avenue Station will also continue.

To recall, the MRT-3 implemented partial operations on Oct. 10 to 11 to give way to turnout repair activities.

“Ang mga aktibidad na ito ay bahagi ng massive rehabilitation and maintenance na isinasagawa sa buong linya ng MRT-3 ng Sumitomo-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries mula sa bansang Hapon,” the MRT-3 said.

MANILA, Philippines – The management of Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) on Friday reminded the public that its operations will be suspended over the weekend to give way to scheduled rehabilitation and maintenance works.

In an advisory, the MRT-3 said it will shut down operations from November 28 to 30 as part of the ongoing massive rehabilitation project being conducted by its maintenance provider, Sumitomo-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

“Magpapatupad ang pamunuan ng rail line ng temporary shutdown sa operasyon ng mga tren nito sa mga nasabing petsa upang magbigay-daan sa gagawing turnout activity sa Taft Avenue station ng Sumitomo-MHI-TESP,” the rail management said.

A turnout or railroad switch is a mechanical installation enabling railway trains to be guided from one track to another railway junction.

Last November 2, the MRT-3 increased its train running speed to 50 kilometers per hour (kph) from 40 kph.

The rail management hopes to further increase the train speed up to 60 kph when repair works for turnouts will be completed in December.

MANILA, Philippines — The management of MRT-3 will resume its weekend shutdown starting November 28 to December 30 to give way to massive maintenance and rehabilitation works in the train system.

A turnout activity will be conducted at Taft Avenue Station in the course of the shutdown.

The MRT management aims to increase train speed from the current 50 kilometers per hour (kph) to 60 kph by December after all rehabilitation works have been made.

MANILA, Philippines – The management of Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) on Monday announced it will suspend its operations in the next two weekends this November to give way to rehabilitation and maintenance works.

In an advisory, the MRT-3 said it will shut down operations on November 14 to 15 and on November 28 to 30.

“Magpapatupad ang pamunuan ng rail line ng temporary shutdown sa operasyon ng mga tren nito sa mga nasabing petsa upang magbigay-daan sa gagawing bushing replacement sa depot at turnout activity sa Taft Avenue station ng Sumitomo-MHI-TESP,” the rail management said.

The MRT-3 was supposed to suspend its weekend operations on October 31 to November 2 but it was deferred due to Typhoon Rolly.

The rail operator said the bushing replacement works in its 34.5-kilovolt alternating current (kV AC) switch gear involve the repair of the bus tie which supplies power to its depot from its source in Balintawak and Diliman, as well as the maintenance of a 12 bushing unit panel.

Last November 2, the MRT-3 increased its train running speed to 50 kilometers per hour (kph) from 40 kph.

“Target na maiakyat pa ito sa 60kph sa Disyembre, oras na matapos ang pagsasaayos ng turnouts,” the rail management said.

The MRT-3 maintenance works are part of the ongoing massive rehabilitation project being conducted by the railway’s maintenance provider, Sumitomo-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
