MMDA launches cashless payment system

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) launched its cashless payment system.

In collaboration with the Landbank of the Philippines and Bayad Center, motorists may settle their penalties for traffic and other road violations through the agency’s automated file collection.

The system aims at reducing the risk of physical contact and the spread of COVID-19.

“In the age of digitization, cashless payment offers convenience for the clients. With the use of mobile phones and laptops/computers, we can now pay anytime and anywhere without the need to travel. Payment is now made easier and long queues will be avoided as they don’t have to go to the MMDA or any over-the-counter payment centers to pay the fines.” said MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos.

Apart from Landbank and Bayad Center, other digital payment services where motorists may transact the payment for penalties include GCash, Grabpay, and Paymaya.

Payments may also be done through credit, debit, or prepaid cards like Visa, Mastercard, and JCB.

MANILA, Philippines – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the implementation of truck ban is suspended along major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.

This is to ensure unhampered movement of essential goods during the extension of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from September 1 to 7.

The MMDA clarified, however, that the suspension does not cover EDSA from Magallanes Interchange in Makati City to North Avenue in Quezon City, where a total truck ban is enforced.
