MANILA, Philippines — Authorities nabbed a mixed martial arts fighter in a buy-bust operation in Cubao, Quezon City, Saturday night (January 16).
PNP Chief PGen. Debold Sinas said the operation stemmed from a tip from arrested drug suspects who identified the suspect, Gary Espinar, as a supplier of illicit drugs.
Police recovered from Espinar 1.8 kilograms high-grade marijuana known as Kush estimated to be worth more than P2.8 million.
“The use, sale, and distribution of marijuana is highly illegal. I have instructed all units to be extra vigilant and to arrest those who think that they can flood the market with recreational drugs,” Sinas stated.
Espinar will be facing charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The PNP Chief also said they have strengthened their intelligence monitoring against party drugs including Kush marijuana.
“Napansin niyo yung mga latest accomplishments and interceptions po namin ay galing po sa labas sa US (United States) at galing The Netherlands as of now based on our coordination with PDEA ay wala pong manufacturer dito sa atin ang lahat po ng iyan so far ay galing sa labas yon po ang binabantayan natin at ini-intercept,” Sinas said.
