Indoor dining, personal care services for fully vaccinated individuals, not discriminatory — DTI

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila will be placed under Alert Level 4 starting Thursday (September 16).

Under the said classification, indoor dining  in restaurants and personal care services will be allowed for fully vaccinated individuals at 10% limited capacity.

Reacting to critics, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said such measure does not intend to discriminate.

“Bawal ito in the first place, itong tatlong sektor na ito: dine-in, personal care, pati iyong pagpunta sa simbahan. So, it’s more of an incentive, hindi po ito discrimination,” Lopez explained.

Under Alert Level 4, thirty percent (30%) capacity is allowed for al fresco dining or outdoor dining spaces and eateries, personal care establishments like barber shops, spas, beauty salons as well as in-person religious gatherings.

Fully vaccinated individuals should present their vaccination cards for indoor services in the said industries.

“Iyong validation is really showing the LGU vaccination card. So, iyon ang paraan natin ngayon. Of course, may ongoing effort ngayon na mayroon na tayong isang uniform vaccine certificate sa VaxCertPH pero mag-i-input pa doon ang ating mga kababayan,” the Trade Secretary noted.

“But for now, they can use the LGU-issued vaccination card,” he added.

Due to policy shift, Lopez is confident that hundreds of workers will now be allowed to resume their jobs in Metro Manila. MNP (with reports from Rosalie Coz)

No price increase in holiday food items — DTI

Maris Federez   •   November 9, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has allayed fears of impending price increases as the holiday season begins.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said food manufacturers have promised not to make any price increases on holiday food items.

Lopez said that, in return, the government will commit to giving support to these manufacturers.

The official also noted minimal adjustments in the price of other grocery products, and that prices of most basic goods remain the same.

More than one-half po noong ating nasa listahan ng basic necessity and prime commodities, wala pong pag-increase. At iyong mga may nag-increase man, ito po ay nasa mga 3% lamang,” he added.

In the recent study released by the Philippine Statistics Authority, the agency reported a low inflation rate in the country in October. This is due to the slow movement in the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages. —/mbmf (from the report of UNTV Correpondent Rosalie Coz)
