Go prefers teaming up with Mayor Sara

MANILA, Philippines — If he could have it his way, Senator Christopher ‘Bong’ Go would have wanted a Go-Sara tandem in the coming 2022 national and local elections.

“Kung ako ang tatanungin, personally po, wala po akong ibang pipiliin kundi si Mayor Inday Sara Duterte. Ngunit meron po kaming partido, at meron pong proseso na dapat sundin. Antayin na lang po natin,” Go said.

The Senator is running under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) party, while Mayor Sara has joined the Lakas-CMD party prior to her filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president.

For Senator Go, however, it would be good thing if Mayor Sara will support his candidacy.

”Kung ako po ang tatanungin, hihilingin ko po na suportahan niya po ako bilang pangulo,” he said.

Mayor Sara has yet to comment on Go’s statement.

However, shortly after she filed her COC, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas led by presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. adopted her as the party’s official candidate. —/mbmf (from the report of UNTV Correspondent Harlene Delgado)

Cusi-led PDP-LABAN wing adopts Sara Duterte as VP bet

Robie de Guzman   •   January 21, 2022

MANILA, Philippines – The PDP-Laban faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi on Friday said it has adopted Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as its vice presidential candidate for the May 2022 national elections.

In a statement, the PDP-Laban wing said it is already finalizing the terms of its alliance agreement with Lakas-CMD party, which is chaired by Mayor Sara.

“The decision to adopt Mayor Sara has been made by the PDP-Laban National Executive Committee based on her credentials, advocacies, and vision for our nation,” the group said.

“Based on these, the PDP-Laban has decided that the quality of her advocacies and vision are strongly aligned with that of the party,” it added.

The group also said that Sara Duterte-Carpio’s leadership and track record “make her most qualified for the position she is now aspiring for and therefore deserves the party’s support.”

It also expressed its belief that Sara’s election to the vice presidency “will help ensure the continuity of the vital programs of the current administration.”

Sara Duterte-Carpio and the Lakas-CMD have yet to issue a statement on the matter.

While it adopted Mayor Sara, the Cusi-led faction left out her running mate, former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The group said it is still in the process of evaluating who among the presidential candidates would best continue the programs of the Duterte administration.

It will also consider President Rodrigo Duterte’s personal pick for president in deciding who to support for the presidency, it added.

Duterte is seeking a Senate seat in next year’s polls.

Other candidates under her slate are former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, former senator Jinggoy Estrada, resigned Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, former Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro, former Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, and Antique Representative Loren Legarda.

Sara Duterte-Carpio made the announcement on Tuesday. She is currently the chairperson of Lakas-CMD.

PDDS confident Go won’t withdraw candidacy

MANILA, Philippines — Partido ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) national adviser Butch Belgica is confident presidential aspirant Senator Christopher ‘Bong’ Go will not back out of the race.

Belgica believes Go will not abandon the party as their standard-bearer in the 2022 national and local polls.

“Hindi po niya gagawin yun, iisipin po niya ang kapakanan ng taumbayan,” Belgica said.

He added that, as support to Go, the party is set to adopt Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as its vice-presidential bet.

“Basta kami Bong Go-Sara Duterte sa vice president and adopting all PDP-Laban senators and allied groups,” Belgica added.

Go’s camp also said that they are not at all bothered by the move of the four big political parties of forging alliance agreement to support the candidacy of former Senator Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos and Mayor Sara, expressing confidence in its own political alliances. —/mbmf (from the report of UNTV Correspondent Nel Maribojoc)
