MANILA, Philippines — Coconut vendor Romnick Relos and his two siblings are still under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
But CDIG -Detection and Special Operations Unit (CIDG-DSOU) chief Police Superintendent Richard Verceles said the brothers might be sent to Masbate anytime soon due to murder charges .
“The procedure is, we will be returning him to the court concerned but we are not sure when because we are considering their security situation,” said Verceles.
The Relos siblings have to return to a court in Masbate to face murder charges in connection with the stabbing and killing of their neighbor Junie Olete in 2007.
However, Verceles said that Relos filed complaints against three personnel of the Metropolitan Manila and Development Authority (MMDA) for beating him.
The coconut vendor filed physical injuries and threat charges against Victor Jimenez, Jonathan Prebente, and Leonard Mojica.
MMDA had previously suspended its men who hurt Relos.
“The case is docketed under file in Pasay prosecutors office under case number XV-13-INV-18-00436. He was assisted by lawyer from Public Attorneys Office,” said the unit chief. — Lea Ylagan | UNTV News & Rescue
MANILA, Philippines – Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Danny Lim has denied reports that local chief executives in the National Capital Region (NCR) have suggested to revert Metro Manila to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status.
In an interview, Lim denounced the reports as fake news saying that the Metro Manila Council of Mayors actually suggested extending the general community quarantine in NCR starting August 1.
President Rodrigo Duterte, meanwhile, is expected to announce the new quarantine measures on July 31 that will be implemented across the country. –MNP (with reports from Joan Nano)
The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) raided a computer shop in Caloocan City on Thursday (July 23) for allegedly selling fake COVID-19 test results.
A video footage showed a woman preparing fake certificates of Rapid Anti-body test results at a computer shop in Barangay 177, Caloocan City. The CIDG said these fake certificates are sold for P500.
After receiving reports, authorities immediately set up an entrapment operation.
“May isang operatiba namin na nagpanggap na kukuha at nangangailangan ng rapid anti-body test. Ayun nga, sa halagang P500 hinintay-hintay niya ang resulta (One of our operatives posed as a customer in need of rapid anti-body test. So after paying P500 he waited for the results),” according to CIDG Deputy Director for Administration PBGen. Rhoderick Armamento.
Armamento reiterated producing fake test results poses great danger especially with the rising COVID-19 cases. He also said that suspects, Angelica Arino Dellola and Jeshel Roldan Mohad will be facing charges for violating Article 171 in relation to Article 17 of The Revised Penal Code and Republic Act 11332. MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is planning to close a total of 15 U-Turn slots on EDSA.
The plan aims to facilitate the construction of mass transport facilities in an effort to speed up traffic flow of buses on Metro Manila’s major thoroughfare.
“We want to lessen the travel time. Kung ma-achieve natin iyan by minimizing or closing the U-turn slots on this bus way ay malaking impact iyan. Mas mabilis,” said MMDA EDSA Traffic Chief Edison Nebrija.
U-Turn slots that might be closed include:
Quezon City Academy
Nebrija added that the project will exclusively assign the innermost lanes of EDSA for public utility buses in order to decongest traffic.
Though MMDA expects to receive mounting complaints from commuters and operators, Nebrija said the project’s purpose is ultimately to provide convenience to the greater public.
“Well maraming magrereklamo diyan. Baka may mag-file na naman ng TRO (Well, many will complain. Maybe another TRO will be filed),” he said.
Nonetheless, the MMDA is still open to suggestions and ideas on how improve EDSA’s busway system. MNP (with reports from Dante Amento)
