Fabella Hospital in Manila to close 3 units for disinfection from Oct. 24 to 27

MANILA, Philippines – The management of the Fabella Memorial Hospital on Friday announced it will close some of its units for disinfection from October 24 to 27 amid the threat of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In an advisory, the hospital said it will temporarily close three of its units, namely the OB emergency room, Pediatric emergency room and out-patient department.
“Upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga pasyente at empleyado ng Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital sa darating na ika- 24, 25, 26 at 27 ng Oktubre 2020 (Sabado, Linggo, Lunes at Martes) ang OB emergency room, Pediatric emergency room at out-patient department ay pansamantalang isasara at hindi tatanggap ng pasyente upang magsagawa ng pang kalahatang paglilinis ng ospital,” it said.
“Humihingi po kami ng pang-unawa sa kapanahunang ito. Maraming salamat po at ingat po tayong lahat,” it added.
The hospital did not say what prompted the four-day closure to give way to disinfection efforts.
The Department of Health, which supervises the hospital, has yet to confirm the hospital’s temporary closure.
MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that the operations in its consular office in Lipa City, Batangas is suspended on Monday, Oct. 5.
In an advisory issued on Sunday, the DFA said the temporary closure is to give way to the disinfection of office premises and implementation of other preventive measures to manage risks against coronavirus disease.
The consular office in Lipa will resume its regular operations on Tuesday, Oct. 6, it added.
The DFA advised those with confirmed appointments but are unable to avail of consular services due to the temporary suspension of operations to secure another appointment by sending a message through email email@example.com with the following information:
Date of birth
Original appointment date and time
Preferred date and time of new appointment
The preferred new appointment may be on any working day, Monday to Friday from Oct. 6 to Nov. 6, 2020 during regular operation hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced that its main office building in Intramuros, Manila will be closed again for disinfection on Monday (July 27) and Tuesday (July 28).
This, after three employees of the agency tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said that during the two-day suspension of operations, all BI employees at the main office will be required to undergo rapid antibody tests and that those with positive results will be subjected to confirmatory swab tests for the virus.
The official added that all officials and employees at the main office be made to undergo rapid testing every month as recommended by BI COVID-19 Task Force Chair Deputy Commissioner Aldwin Alegre.
“Given the high number of people who troop to our main building everyday to transact business, we have to take all precautionary measures to prevent the transmission of this virus in our office premises,” Morente said.
The BI Chief added that periodic disinfection of the building’s premises will be conducted to help prevent further transmission of COVID-19.
MANILA, Philippines – The Supreme Court on Friday announced that work in its offices will be suspended from July 20 to 22 to give way to the disinfection of its premises.
In a memorandum circular, Supreme Court Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta said the court’s buildings and offices will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized starting July 18 until July 22 to minimize the possible spread of infection.
Peralta also stated that only on-duty personnel from the Office of the Bar Confidant, the cash collection, and disbursement division, medical services, and the security and maintenance divisions will be authorized to report for work during the disinfection process.
