Duterte signs EO for creation of OFW Hospital
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the creation of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Hospital, the Presidential Communications Operation Office (PCOO) said Tuesday (December 7).
The PCOO said Acting Presidential spokesman Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles has confirmed that President Duterte signed Executive Order 154 on Tuesday directing the establishment of the OFW Hospital.
Nograles said EO-154 also ordered the creation of the Inter-Agency Committee on the OFW Hospital (ICOH).
The ICOH, the CabSec said, will be co-chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment and the Secretary of Health.
“We consider the establishment of this specialty hospital devoted to OFWs as a long-overdue recognition of the valuable contribution of Filipino migrant workers to the economy and to the nation,” Nograles said. —/mbmf
