LP senators deny hand on alleged ouster plot vs. PRRD

by UNTV   |   Posted on Thursday, October 5th, 2017

MANILA, Philippines — Senators allied with the Liberal Party (LP) have once again denied having plans to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to LP President Sen. Francis Pangilinan, the president just wants to divert the public’s attention away from the issues he is facing.

“Ang concern natin dito ay ang conspiracy na nauwi sa pagpapalusot ng P6.5 billion na shabu sa BOC kasabwat ang mga drug syndicate. Ang conspiracy na iyon ang dapat ipinapaliwanag ng gobyerno,” said Pangilinan.

(Our concern is the conspiracy that resulted in the entry of the P6.5 billion worth of shabu at the BOC in conspiracy with drug syndicates. And that conspiracy must be explained by the government.)

For Sen. Bam Aquino, Liberal Party members have nothing to do with any effort to oust the president, adding that Duterte may just be making up the ouster plot issue.

“Gaya ng kaniyang mga paratang sa bank account ni Senator Trillanes, he probably also made that up. Gawa-gawa lang po iyan. Hindi po totoo (Just like with the bank account of Senator Trillanes, he probably also made that up.  It’s just made up. These are not true.),” he said.

Aquino also noted that criticisms against members of the opposition are not a good sign.

“Secretary Aguirre has even created a group against what he calls the enemies of the state, including what he calls the ‘yellowtards’. This is already a political persecution,” said the senator.

Meanwhile, according to the former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and now senator, Panfilo Lacson, any plot to oust the president is impossible to succeed.

“Pwedeng may nag-iisip, pero will they succeed? Ang 82% na approval at trust rating ng Pangulo, mukhang mahirap mangyari ang ma-oust siya through either people power or… military naman, unlikely because he’s so close with the military,” said Lacson.

(It’s possible that someone is thinking about it, but will they succeed? With the 82% approval and trust rating of the president, it would be difficult to oust him through people power or…military is unlikely to do that because he’s so close to the military.)

Trillanes offshore accounts being used for destabilization ops

by UNTV News   |   Posted on Sunday, October 1st, 2017

FILE PHOTO: Senator Antonio Trillanes IV

MANILA, Philippines — A country against money laundering allegedly gave the information to President Rodrigo Duterte regarding the offshore accounts of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.

This was revealed by the chief executive in an interview on the state-run television, PTV last Friday night.

Trillanes allegedly closed some of his accounts and that the hidden funds were possibly used for destabilization efforts against the Duterte administration, such as organizing anti-government protests and paying witnesses like retired SPO3 Arthur Lascaña and self-confessed hitman, Edgar Matobato.
“Based on analysis, the funds being laundered by Trillanes and his group may not be for their personal use, but rather, it is being used for their cause and possibly to destabilize government by paying for witnesses and funding destabilization operations,” said President Duterte.
The chief executive added that in the future, he will release more evidence regarding the said offshore accounts.

On the other hand, Trillanes said in a statement that Duterte’s claims are just new rumors to divert the public’s attention from the investigation regarding the president’s billions of pesos worth of hidden wealth. — UNTV News & Rescue

PSG member found dead in Malacañan; cause of death still unknown

by UNTV   |   Posted on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential Security Group (PSG) Commander Brigadier General Lope Dagoy ruled out foul play in the death of Major General Harim Gonzaga on Tuesday morning at his quarters in Malacañan Palace.

“We really cannot speculate. We can’t tell yet if it’s suicide when we do not have the data. It can also be an accident but we leave it up to the SOCO” said Dagoy.

The commander added that Gonzaga did not show signs of a struggle.

Major Gonzaga was found dead with a gunshot wound in his chest.

Gonzaga’s Norinco caliber .45 was found beside him.

The scene of the crime operatives (SOCO) is still investigating the reason behind his death.

Gonzaga was assigned to the operation section of PSG. He has two children and a  wife who is also a member of the presidential escorts.

Dagoy said the wife of Gonzaga told him that her husband was having difficulties with his workload.

“Nung kausap ko yung wife, in fact, naabutan ko hysterical pa siya. I was trying to settle her down. Tinanong ko siya,  ‘Ano ba problema, mayroon ba?’ ‘Wala naman Sir. Ang sinasabi lang niya, yung workload niya marami.’ Normal lang naman sa amin yun, nasa PSG ka eh. I don’t think that’s a reason for him to take his life, dahil lang sa trabaho,” said the commander.

(When I talked to the wife, in fact she was still hysterical when I found her. I was trying to settle her down. I asked what his problem was and she said, ‘Nothing Sir.’ But her husband mentioned about having too much workload. But that’s normal for us, we’re in PSG. I don’t think that’s a reason for him to take his life just because of work.)

PSG confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte was already in Malacañang when the incident happened and was informed about it.
