MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang on Tuesday confirmed that Secretary Vince Dizon has stepped down from his post as president of the Bases and Conversion Development Authority (BCDA).

“We wish to inform that BCDA president and CEO and presidential adviser on flagship programs and projects, Mr. Vivencio Dizon tendered his resignation effective October 15, 2021,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press briefing.

Roque said Dizon resigned as BCDA chief to focus on his tasks relating to the government’s COVID-19 response.

“Secretary Vince has asked the president to unload him of his task so he can focus full time on the national government’s COVID response efforts and vaccination rollout,” he said.

He, however, said that Dizon will stay as the government’s testing czar and deputy chief implementer of the National Task Force against COVID-19.

“Mananatili po sa gobyerno bilang presidential adviser for Covid-19 response si Secretary Vince Dizon. Patuloy rin niya gagampanan ang kanyang tungkulin bilang deputy chief implementer ng National Task Force Against Covid-19 at vaccine czar,” Roque said.

News on Dizon’s resignation was first announced by BCDA vice president Aileen Zosa during a Senate deliberation on the agency’s proposed 2022 budget.

BCDA director Aristotle Batuhan has been appointed officer-in-charge of the agency, Roque said.

MANILA, Philippines – Testing czar Vince Dizon on Thursday denied claims he is part of the campaign team for a certain political candidate.

Dizon issued the statement after Lito Banayo, the chief campaign strategist of Mayor Isko, earlier said that Dizon has joined their team as deputy campaign manager and head of statistical research.

Earlier in the day, Malacañang also issued a statement denying Banayo’s claims.

“I confirm the statement of Cabinet Secretary and acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles that I am not involved in any political campaign,” Dizon said.

“My focus is on the national government’s overall COVID-19 response and recovery, including the country’s vaccination program,” he added.

Dizon is also deputy chief implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19. He formerly served as president of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority but he quit the post last October.

Palace denies claims Vince Dizon joined Isko Moreno’s campaign team

Robie de Guzman   •   November 18, 2021

MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang on Thursday denied claims that Cabinet member, Secretary Vince Dizon has joined the campaign team of presidential hopeful Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.

“There is no truth to the reports circulating that Secretary Vivencio ‘Vince’ Dizon allegedly joined the campaign team of a presidential aspirant,” Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles said in a statement.

Nograles issued the statement after Lito Banayo, the chief campaign strategist of Mayor Isko, on Wednesday said that Dizon has joined their team as deputy campaign manager and head of statistical research.

Dizon serves as testing czar and deputy chief implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19.

“Sec. Dizon remains a working member of the Cabinet of the Duterte Administration as Presidential Adviser for COVID-19 response,” Nograles said.

“Sec. Dizon is focused on the vaccination efforts of government, and not with any political campaign,” he added.

Dizon formerly served as president of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority but he quit the post last October.

COVID-19 vaccine supply, no longer a problem — NTF

Maris Federez   •   October 25, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 has assured that the country’s supply of vaccines against coronavirus disease is no longer a problem.

The NTF reported that the Philippines has received around 97.6 million doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines since February this year.

Of this number, 76.7 million were deployed in the local government units to be administered in their communities.

Vaccine czar and NTF chief implementer Sec. Carlito Galvez said that this month, an average of around 1 million vaccine doses arrive in the country every day.

These doses were immediately deployed to the LGUs to ensure that no time is wasted in vaccinating the people.

“The country has been receiving an average of 1 million COVID-19 vaccines daily since the start of October. And once we receive them, they are immediately deployed to LGUs and other implementing units throughout the country. There is no time wasted,” Galvez said.

The official also reiterated that the national inventory has sufficient COVID-19 vaccine supplies and that the LGUs do not have to make their own procurement for their constituencies.

He said that with the guaranteed supply of the vaccines, the problem now lies in how these will be distributed to benefit a larger number of Filipinos.

NTF vs COVID-19 Deputy chief implementer and testing czar Sec. Vince Dizon said that the government targets to vaccinate at least one dose of the vaccine to 70 percent of the target population and reach full vaccination of the said target by December 30.

He noted that this can be achieved with more aggressive action by the LGUs in the vaccination rollout, especially in highly urbanized cities.

“As I have been telling our LGUs over the past several weeks, vaccine supply is no longer a problem for our country. Our main concern at this point is how to get these COVID-19 jabs into the arms of as many Filipinos as quickly as possible,” Dizon said. —/mbmf (from the report of UNTV Correspondent Rosalie Coz)
