BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — Authorities arrested Tubajon, Dinagat Islands Mayor Romeo Constantino Vargas at his residence around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday (March 23) for alleged possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Armed with a search warrant, operatives of the Philippine National Police and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in Caraga swooped down on the mayor’s home where they recovered one M16 rifle with scope and by pad, magazine for M16, ammunition, caliber .22 magnum, and air gun convertible.
