MANILA, Philippines — As the government looks into gradually reopening more establishments in the coming months, businesses and companies are encouraged to apply for safety seal certification to help boost consumer confidence.
The Department of Labor and Employment said the government’s Safety Seal Certification will validate the compliance of an establishment to the minimum public health standards set by the government amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government agencies that may issue the said certification include the Department of Tourism (DOT) for hotels, restaurants inside hotels, tours and services; the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for barbershop, salons, groceries, convenience stores, pharmacies; the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for constructions, manufacturing, utilities, warehouses, news and information; and the Department of Local and Interior Government (DILG) with the local government units (LGU) for malls, wet markets, amusement parks, museum and more
A joint memorandum circular has been signed by the concerned agencies on April 23, 2021 and few establishments were already issued with the certification.
Asec. Cucueco said, establishments with a safety seal are allowed to increase their capacity.
The issued safety seal certification will be valid for six months while validity for tourism enterprises is up to one year.
It can be renewed and also revoked once the establishment is found to have breached the public health standards or reported to have a COVID-19 infection case.
Nevertheless, revoked certifications may be reinstated if the company can show proof of compliance to health standards.
