In a recent survey of Big 7 Travel, the Filipino accent ranked 21st in the most sexiest accents in the world, and first in Asia.

“Gentle and soft, the accents you’ll hear when in the Philippines are simply lovely,” Big 7 Travel stated in their website

Big 7 travel polled their readers on which accent sounds the sexiest. Kiwi (New Zealand), South African and Irish accents are the top 3.

Other countries that made it to the top 10 include Italian, Australian, Scottish, French, Spanish, South USA, and Brazilian Portuguese.(with reports from Mon Jocson)

SWS: Pinoys’ trust in China falls to ‘bad’, remains ‘excellent’ in US

The Filipinos’ trust in China has fallen from ‘poor’ to ‘bad’, based on the third quarter 2019 Social Weather Survey (SWS).

The net trust for China fell by 9 points from -24 in June 2019 to -33 in September 2019.

“The September 2019 Social Weather Survey was conducted from September 27-30, 2019 using face-to-face interviews of 1,800 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide,” according to the SWS survey report.

Meanwhile, the United States net trust remain ‘excellent’ at +72 in September 2019, it has little to no change compared to the +73 in June 2019.

Other countries like Australia and Japan stay at a ‘very good’ net trust rating, +37 and +35 respectively in September 2019.

Vietnam fell from ‘moderate’ net trust to ‘neutral’ with a net zero-rating in September 2019 from a +13 rating in June 2019.—AAC

Senate commends Filipino teachers for commitment in shaping future leaders

The Senate commended Filipino teachers on Tuesday (October 1) for their commitment in shaping future leaders of the country.

Senate Resolution No. 142 was adopted in honor of the Filipino teachers in celebration of World Teacher’s Day on October 5.

“The Senate of the Philippines salutes the teachers and educators of the Philippines and of the world for their unwavering commitment and dedication to his noble profession,” the resolution reads.

Senator Joel Villanueva said the Senate will continue to uphold the welfare of the teachers of the country.

“Let us continue to invest in our teachers who mold the future generations of our people. Happy teachers’ month and more power to our teachers,” he said.—AAC

Filipinos spend more hours on social media than the rest of the world—report

Filipinos spend more time on social media compared with the rest of the world, according to a recent report of Global Web Index.

The Philippines tops the list with an average of 4 hours a day spent on social media. Brazil ranked second with 3:45 hours spent while Nigeria and Colombia tied in the third spot with 3:36 hours spent.

The hours spent on social media in the Philippines increased from 2:49 hours in 2012 to 4:01 hours in 2019. The country also has remained the top country that spends the most hours on social media for seven years.

Meanwhile, the top motivations of internet users to use social media is to be up-to-date with the latest news and current events (40%), staying in touch with friends (39%) and finding funny or entertaining content (38%).

However, 47% of the 16-24 year old  age group said that finding funny or entertaining content is their top motivation for using social media. 46% answered “to fill up spare time” while 43% answered “to stay in touch with friends.”—AAC
