Authorities have started security preparations for the annual event in Quiapo, Manila on January 9.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines said that so far, no form of security threat on the said date has been reported yet.

The AFP will implement a ‘no fly zone policy’ and will install signal jammers in the areas covered by the procession.

The Philippine Coast Guard will also secure waterways and rivers particularly in Jones Bridge.

Bising was last located at 475 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, packing sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kilometers per hour.

Bising is forecast to gradually weaken throughout the forecast period and may be downgraded to severe tropical storm by Saturday evening or Sunday morning, PAGASA said.
