2nd Wish 107.5 Music Awards all set for Jan. 16

by UNTV News   |   Posted on Wednesday, January 11th, 2017

All is set for the Wish 107.5 Music Awards this coming Monday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The event will witness not only the announcement of this year’s winners but also performances of top Original Pilipino Music (OPM) stars.

The artist who will grace the awards night will include Morisette, KZ Tandingan, Zia Quizon, Charice, Sassa Dagdag, Kris Lawrence, Michael Pangilinan, Jason Dy and Marcelino Pomoy.

A total of 75 music acts are vying under 13 categories, special recognition will also be handed out including the ‘Wish Reactors Choice Award’ and ‘Wishclusive Viral Video of the Year’.

Awards will also be given to members of the Wishclusive Elite Circle.

This group will be composed of artists with Wish 107.5 YouTube videos that have at least 10 million views.

Online voting will comprise 50% of a nominee’s total score, while the other 50% will come from the votes of a select panel of judges.

Some of the nominees are grateful for being able to perform on the one and only Wish 107.5 Bus.

“It was only a dream for me. I wish that before 2016 ends I’ll get to perform and God granted my wish. So, before the year ends I was able to guest in the show,” said Wish Awards nominee Garie Concepcion.

“I’ve been a part of it. A few of my videos, I think, reached 1 million views at least. For someone like me who’s not so popular, it’s a big achievement for me,” said Sam Mangubat, another Wish Awards nominee.

Also one of the much-awaited part of the event is the granting of 1 million pesos to the chosen charitable institutions of the winners.

The wish-granting is one of the main highlights of the Wish Music Awards.

Those who will receive major awards will be given 100,000 pesos for their chosen charitable institution. This is apart from the cash prizes worth P25,000 each that winning artists will receive.

“I’m surprised that there’s something like that happening. You barely see that and it’s barely anything. I’m happy to be a part of a company that does that like even the show, the people are giving away tickets and all that. It’s not about the show but what is happening in the show and at the end of the day what is happening is we’re celebrating the singers and we’re celebrating that not by gaining anything but giving it away,” said Wish FM disc jockey, Robin Nievera.

Wishclusive performances of the first batch of wishful 20 now available online

by UNTV   |   Posted on Monday, September 11th, 2017

MANILA, Philippines — “Good evening Wishers! You are now tuned in to the biggest and hippest online singing competition in the Philippines—Wishcovery!” said RnB royalty Kris Lawrence.

The first ever talent search of the Wish 107.5, the Wishcovery, has finally aired on digital space.

Last Saturday, the public witnessed how the unique online singing competition was conceptualized.

“That’s the reason why we also introduced Wishcovery not only to give chance to professional singers but also to those that really are aspiring to be known in the world of music,” said BMPI CEO and President Daniel Razon.

The pilot episode also featured the search for the wishful 20 from the on-ground and online auditions.

The resident reactors of the competition were also presented. They are the Philippines’ King of R&B, Jay-R; vocal coach Annie Quintos and music producer Jungee Marcelo.

Seventy percent of scores of the wishful 20’s performance will come from the reactors. Their performances will be held on board the first and only FM station-on-wheels — the Wish bus.

Meanwhile, 30% of the scores will come from the public’s pulse through power viewing of their favorite wishful.

The wishful 20 is divided into 4 groups.

One batch will perform every week, and candidates who will make it to the next round will be announced on the Wishcovery episode aired every Saturday.

Viewers can watch the Wishclusive performances of the first batch of the wishful 20 on the YouTube channel of Wish 107.5 starting 9 in the evening, September 11.

The official counting of YouTube views is until Friday, at 12 noon.

The first ever Wishcovery grand champion will take home two million peso-worth of cash and contract, a brand new car and a house and lot.

Aside from these prices, the grand winner will also have the opportunity to be known worldwide.

“The only thing that would make Wishcovery different from other singing competitions is that it is one way of introducing our Filipino singers not only to the Filipinos but introducing our talent as Filipinos all over the globe,” said Daniel Razon.

“Those that will win in our Wishcovery will be part of our world tour that will actually showcase talent of not only these singers who will join us on the world tour, but also the amateur singers that will win in this Wishcovery contest” he added. — Leslie Longboen | UNTV News & Rescue
