269 P2P provincial buses, maaari nang bumiyahe sa bubuksang 10 ruta simula Disyembre 21

MANILA, Philippines – Magbubukas na sa susunod na linggo ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ng sampung ruta para sa pagbiyahe ng 269 point-to-point (P2P) provincial buses papasok at palabas ng Metro Manila.

Ayon sa LTFRB, alinsunod ito sa memorandum circular 2020-082 na inilabas matapos payagan ng Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) ang pagpasada ng mga provincial bus sa mga pinapayagang point-to-point routes.

Sa ilalim ng memorandum circular, ang mga ruta na bubuksan sa Disyembre 21 ay ang mga sumusunod:

  • Clark, Pampanga – SM North EDSA
  • Clark, Pampanga – NAIA Terminal (With Limited Stop in Ortigas)
  • Clark, Pampanga – Lubao, Pampanga (With Specials Stops in San Fernando and Angeles City)
  • Clark, Pampanga – Dagupan, Pangasinan (With Special Stops at Rosales and Urdaneta, Pangasinan)
  • Clark, Pampanga – Subic, Zambales (With Special Stop at Dinalupihan, Bataan)
  • NAIA/Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITx) – Baguio City
  • Batangas City – Ortigas
  • Batangas City – Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITx)
  • Lipa City, Batangas – Ortigas
  • Lipa City, Batangas – Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITx)

Ayon sa LTFRB, maaaring magbiyahe ang mga roadworthy PUV na may valid at existing Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) o Application for Extension of Validity, at kinakailangang naka-rehistro sa Personal Passenger Insurance Policy ang bawat unit sa mga rutang nakapaloob sa MC.

Binigyang-diin naman ng ahensiya na kailangan ng special permit ang mga provincial P2P bus na bibiyahe sa mga inter-regional routes sa labas ng Metro Manila.

Maaaring mag-apply ng special permit sa pamamagitan ng pagpapadala ng mensahe sa technical@ltfrb.gov.ph.

Kailangan ding sumunod ang pick up at drop off terminals ng mga naturang bus sa health at safety protocols bago payagang mag-operate ng local government units.

Muli namang ipinapaalala ng ahensya na walang ipatutupad na taas-pasahe sa mga naturang provincial P2P bus, maliban na lang kung ipag-uutos ito ng LTFRB.

Bukod diyan, kinakailangan sumunod ng mga PUV sa mga alituntunin ng IATF at local government units kaugnay ng health protocols bago sila makabiyahe.

DOTr encourages private motorists to take EDSA busway, MRT-3 amid heavy traffic

MANILA, Philippines — Amid the heavy traffic on Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has encouraged private vehicle owners to take public transportation.

In a statement, the department said that taking the EDSA Busway System and the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) would help ease the heavy congestion along EDSA.

The DOTr assured that operations of the EDSA Busway System and the MRT-3 remain smooth and travel time is still fast for commuters. From 3 to 4 hours of travel time from Monumento to PITX, it is reduced to 45 minutes to 1 hour, according to the transportation department.

“Ang MRT-3 ay patuloy na nakakapagbibigay ngayon ng mas maganda, mas maayos, at mabilis na serbisyo sa ating mga commuter,” the department said in a statement.

MRT-3 operations would also improve once the massive rehabilitation and maintenance activities are completed by December 2021.

Meanwhile, the government is expected to resume the Service Contracting Program under the regular budget of the national government. This is to provide incentives to PUVs that provide free rides to commuters. AAC

LTFRB adds 20 more buses to EDSA Busway Carousel

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has added 20 more buses to EDSA Busway Carousel.

LTFRB Chairman Atty. Martin Delgra III said this is in response to the long queues brought by the number of passengers wanting to avail of the free ride program launched by the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

“Dumadami talaga ang pasahero, we have to admit that dahil na rin sa libreng sakay. Kung pagpipiliin po ng pasahero kung saan siya sasakay, sa tren ba na may bayad o sa bus na walang bayad especially along EDSA nakakasiguro ako na pipili tayo doon sa walang bayad,” he said.

(The number of passengers is increasing. We have to admit that this is due to the free rides. If passengers will choose between using the train or the free bus, especially along EDSA, I can assure you they will choose the free ride.)

From the previous 41,000 passengers riding the EDSA Busway Carousel daily, the LTFRB reported that it has increased to 182,000 passengers per day.

The agency is also looking into increasing the capacity per bus to accommodate more passengers and help lessen long queues.

Meanwhile, the DOTr is reviewing the possibility of removing the requirement of wearing face shields in buses as long as the other health and safety protocols will still be followed. AAC (with reports from Marvin Calas)

DOTr, LTFRB address concerns over long queues at MRT, EDSA Carousel Stations

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said they have taken steps to address the long queues in MRT-3 stations and in EDSA Carousel Stations.

In a Facebook post, the DOTr explained that the long lines were prompted by the heavy rain on Friday (June 11).

Vehicular accidents were also reported which contributed to an unusual traffic build-up. The department also noted that waiting time and queuing  are inevitable especially during rush hour or weekend.

“Lines of commuters at the MRT-3 Ortigas and Ayala stations that Friday night were in normal condition. The commuters in the photos lined-up to board buses at the EDSA Carousel stations, which are also located at the said MRT-3 stations,” the DOTr said.

DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade has ordered the DOTr Road Sector and the LTFRB to implement protocols to avoid long queues. This includes adding more transport marshals, requesting EDSA Busway Consortium to deploy the maximum number of authorized bus units, and deploy more “rescue skip buses” to congested EDSA Bus Stops to pick up passengers especially during rush hours.

Meanwhile, the DOTr Road Sector, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and local government units (LGUs) concerned shall likewise meet and further discuss various measures to prevent traffic congestion that affect the operation of the EDSA Busway. AAC
