As part of its unwavering service to the Filipinos, UNTV News and Public Affairs Department launched its new tag line, “Tulong Muna, Bago Balita,” in which its news teams were trained to save lives in actual emergency situations. Daniel Razon, UNTV’s CEO, launched the initiative during the anniversary of the channel last 2010.
In a critical situation, current media practice in local and international news organizations opt to being the first in getting and delivering the news. For UNTV, being first is in assisting and relieving a person in distress. That in itself is news.
Following the course of Tulong Muna, Bago Balita, UNTV News and Public Affairs has again set its gear in creating a new program, Q.U.A.T. or the Quick Action Team, designed to give maximum emphasis on providing a helping hand and extending assistance to people caught in the midst of disasters. It also aims to present useful information that people should know when faced with emergencies, tragedies and calamities.
UNTV teamed up with Search and Rescue Foundation, Inc. (SARUF), a group of professionals in the field of search and rescue operations who will share their invaluable knowledge and skills in disaster preparedness, safety and security.
Key segments of the show includes providing tips and short lessons in the various aspects of rescue and mission, using actual situations and interviews with professional rescuers in various critical situations.
