Maestra Viajes

Stage and theater actress Ms. Gigi Herrera is the titular Maestra Viajes. Similar with the format of a road movie, the program takes viewers to an educational road tour with Maestra Viajes’ students. When Maestra journeys and ventures back to some of the country’s foremost landmarks and historic places, she also features the culture, arts, events, delicacies and cuisines and the milestones of the visited place.

She travels back to historical places using our local transportation modes such as jeepneys, tricycles, buses, boat, trains, airplanes and kalesa.

This inventive and independent production that features different places in the Philippines, together with the discussion of the places’ history and culture, receives grant from the National Commission for the Culture and Arts (NCCA). It also enjoys support from the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), National Historical Institute (NHI) and the National Library.

The show appeals to both children and adults because it aims to instill appreciation of the country’s scenic spots, including historical and cultural heritage.
