Kongreso, Hindi Dadalo sa Deliberasyon ng JBC sa Lunes

 MANILA, Philippines – Hindi pabor ang liderato ng Kongreso na isang kinatawan lang mula rito ang dadalo sa Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) deliberation batay sa desisyon ng Korte Suprema.

Batay sa kinalabasan ng pagpupulong nina Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile at House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., nanindigan ang mga ito na hindi maaaring maging kinatawan ng Senado ang mula sa lower house o ng lower house ang mula sa Senado.

Kasama rin sa nasabing pulong sina Congressman Niel Tupas Jr., Senador Francis “Chiz” Escudero at House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II.

“The first issue we agreed, the issue is since the Senate and the House cannot designate one representative to represent Congress, the decision is the senator cannot represent the house of representative and a member of a house cannot represent the senate and its impossible for us to designate and the decision was, we view this decision the congress will not participate,” pahayag ni JBC Member, Congressman Niel Tupas Jr.

Ayon naman kay Senador Chiz Escudero, hangga’t hindi nareresolba ang kanilang petisyon ay walang taga kongreso na dadalo sa JBC proceedings.

Ito’y upang ipakita ang kanilang posisyon na ang Senate at ang House of Representatives ay bi-cameral bodies.

Bukod dito, ang mataas at mababang kapulungan ng kongreso ay may kani-kaniyang constituency at institusyon kaya’t hindi maaaring isa lang ang kakatawan sa JBC.

“We were instructed not to attend the JBC deliberation on Monday or until after our petition has been decided on. This is to emphasize the position of both the Senate and the House as bi-cameral bodies,” pahayag naman ni JBC Member, Senador Chiz Escudero.

Bukod dito, may kani-kaniya aniyang constituency at institusyon ang mataas at mababang kapulungan ng kongreso kaya’t hindi maaaring isa lang ang kakatawan sa JBC.

Ipinauubaya na rin ng kongreso sa JBC kung itutuloy nito ang kanilang deliberasyon kahit walang kinatawan ang kongreso. (Ito ang Balita ni Bryan De Paz/Ruth Navales, UNTV News)
