Seeing the need to give Filipinos an educational and informative magazine program featuring news, lively discussion of issues, and most especially public service, Daniel Razon introduced Good Morning Kuya! in the Philippine airwaves in 2007. The veteran journalist is the Kuya or big brother, a dependable shoulder who is always ready to listen, is the main host of this program.
With Good Morning Kuya, Daniel Razon saw many of his numerous social care ideas mounted daily, making the show the home of public service in the Philippines. The numerous public care commitments it mounted remain unprecedented in the history of Philippine broadcasting.
Touted as a one-stop-shop in terms of public service delivery, Good Morning Kuya opens its doors to the marginalized every morning to give free legal consultation (Clinic ni Kuya), free clinic consultation (Clinic ni Kuya), free dental service, free medicine (Botika ni Kuya), and many other similar services. For the commuters in EDSA, Good Morning Kuya has launched free bus services that roam the longest avenue in the National Capital Region.
Kuya Daniel, who also happens to have conceptualized the segments of the show, introduced one of its most beloved portion, the Pondahan. In this segment, the show mimics a typical suking tindahan setting (store front) featuring people lively discussing issues and concerns of the day.
Other interesting segments of the show aims to update and provide every member of the household of relevant and useful information that they can use. These features include: Practical Cooking, Market Update, Human Rights Watch, Nasusulat or Verse of the Day, i-Barangay Mo, Usapang Pangkalusugan, Biblically Speaking, Fitness 101, and many more.
The very moment that the show premiered, many sectors agree they finally find a new home when the time strikes at 5:30 a.m. The daily show now begins at 4:30 a.m.
