Estranghero (“Stranger” in English) is not your usual travels-and-tours program on television. As a show aired by UNTV, which is a given, the show is expected to be public service-oriented that is dedicated to the Global Filipinos abroad and to Filipinos aspiring to reach foreign shores in search of greener pastures.
The show features some of the most original public service initiatives conceptualized by Mr. Public Service, Daniel Razon, that are designed to assist and provide some help and conveniences for our kababayan abroad.
One such project is the Global Kamustahan, a free long-distance call and greeting project launched by UNTV during its 3rd year anniversary in 2007. Other interesting segments meant to aid our kababayan who aspire to go abroad is FAQs or frequently asked questions with answers pooled from OWWA, POEA and the Immigration Department.
Informative and educational segments are also dished up to complete the package. To rekindle Filipino pride out of empowering and inspiring stories of the show's featured kababayan, there is “Tagumpay ng Pinoy.” A segment about Filipino communities abroad or “FilCom” is about activities of Filipino expats while “On D Spot,” features tourists spots abroad. Finally, “I Saw the Sign,” is the segment that aims to teach the proper and acceptable gestures or non-verbal communications to use or apply when outside the country.
The show is hosted by Atty. Wilhelm Soriano, Lyn Perez, and Atty. Regie Tongol.
