The former UNTV
A year after the Y2K fever, the radio network NU 107.5 widened its scope and added television. In the growing Progressive Broadcasting Corp. family, its visual counterpart was born with UNTV. Fast-paced, contemporary, edgy and original shows and music video-centered programs emerged out of the creative minds of its owners, banker/businessman Mr. Alfredo Henares and radio veteran Mike N. Pedero.
The station was producer and creator of television’s hugely popular and sensational odd show called “Strange Brew;” the experimental short video and film window on TV, “Eat my Shorts,” and, music video program that features contemporary, rock and edgy artists, “In the raw.”
As television’s “Home of New Rock,” the station, like its radio counterpart, set the standard for good taste in rock and contemporary songs, blasting off with music that are dynamic, young, passionate, creative, and always ready to renew itself.
Lifestyle defining was how popular culture observers said of UNTV because it made inroads with Filipino rock musicians, to give opportunity for them to have their songs aired on radio and television.
In its old hat, UNTV strives to give audiences a taste of what television should be.
